Queen Elizabeth's is a Voluntary Controlled Church of England school, which grew from a foundation established in 1497. The recent additions have included new rooms in food technology, a dance studio, an astroturf multi-sports area, a complete refurbishment of design technology, new computer suites and a remodelled learning support base. The school is committed to the highest standards in all areas of school life and it seeks to support these standards through excellent teaching and a strong ethos of values and mutual respect. The school prides itself on the range of opportunities offered outside the classroom. As a Specialist Sports College, it provides a wealth of sporting opportunities for all abilities, from teams in all major sports and elite performance support, to sports activities open to all. There is a long-standing reputation for excellence in music, drama and the arts, with major concerts and productions throughout the year.
