Background:
The original primary school was founded in 1662 and was located in a loft in the local priory church. It moved to its present site in 1867 and has been gradually augmented over the years. Now over-subscribed, the school is situated near the town centre and close to the estuary of River Stour just before it meets with the River Avon and flows into the sea at Mudeford. There are 'strong links' with the church, where school services are regularly held. A 'wide range' of extra-curricular activities is offered including football, rugby, netball, athletics, gardening, country and maypole dancing, French, woodwind, violin, recorder and information technology. Money has been raised for many charities including UNICEF, British Heart Foundation, Comic Relief, Poppy Appeal and local charities.
