Background:
Sherborne Primary School was founded in 1911, to accommodate the increase in the size of the town and in 1998 the school moved to purpose-built premises. Facilities at the new site include a football pitch, training area, netball courts and space for cricket, hockey, athletics and many other outdoor sports. The building comprises 11 classrooms, a hall, music room, special needs department, library and computer room. The governors run the Fun Club supervision scheme until 6pm in term time and all day during the holidays. The school offers various extra-curricular activities and clubs. These include football, rounders, cricket, recorders, piano, French, chess, country dancing, gymnastics, wildlife, maypole dancing, guitar, art, choir etc. The school makes efforts to strengthen community links and to develop individual pupils' strengths and interests by encouraging them to join local organisations such as church choirs or sports clubs. The school also organises residential and day visits. Each term, children raise funds for a different charity. The school is committed to educate each pupil to his or her full potential within a happy and secure school environment.
