Background:
The school was opened in purpose-built accommodation in 1963, although its origins lie in the amalgamation of Netherbury Grammar, founded in 1565, and Beaminster Grammar, founded in 1682. It is situated on the edge of Beaminster, a charming town of historical interest, about six miles from the south coast. The main school occupies a 30-acre site in beautiful open countryside and provides education for students drawn from a wide area. The school has a good range of pitches, a gymnasium, an indoor swimming pool, use of which is shared with the local community, and a new sports hall. There are many opportunities for pupils to extend their interest in music through extra-curricular activities such as: choir, rock band, samba band, various small instrumental groups and keyboard playing. The school aims to achieve high academic standards through teaching and learning of quality.
