Background:

St Peter's is a Roman Catholic, voluntary aided, comprehensive school for boys and girls aged 11 to 18, within the Bournemouth education authority. The school is run under the joint trusteeship of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth and the De La Salle Brothers, a world-wide religious order devoted to education. The school has two sites, each with excellent facilities and surrounded by ample playing fields. In addition to the provision of libraries, science laboratories, workshops, art and craft rooms and subject specialist rooms on both sites, there is a sports hall and a large theatre at Southbourne, and a fine Hall and gymnasium at Iford. A new dance studio has recently been built at Southbourne. The school runs a number of clubs and societies, as well as out-of-school sports activities. These include rugby, soccer, hockey, netball, basketball, volleyball, cricket, athletics, tennis and chess. Holidays abroad, including pupil exchanges with French, and Spanish schools, geography, history and biology field trips and skiing trips, are organised annually. The school recognises and respects each member of the school community as a child of God, blessed with a unique personality and endowed with individual gifts and talents.
