Background:
Parkstone Grammar School was founded in 1905 and moved to the present site in 1961. The school facilities include nine science laboratories, purpose-designed rooms for design and technology, two dedicated IT rooms, specialist accommodation for mathematics, English, modern Languages and humanities, sixth-form common room and dedicated sixth-form study area; and brand new lecture theatre. Excellent for music and sport. Previous national champions in netball; national finalists in volleyball, netball, trampoline and swimming, rounders and athletics. The school prides itself on encouraging students to be fully involved in the life of the school as well as the local and national community. Charity fund-raising and voluntary work have high priority with the school supporting many local and national charities. Specialist science college status from September 2003. Over-subscribed, with nearly two applications per place. Beacon status (2002); Sportsmark (2003); Investor in People status (2004).
