Background:

The school's main building is 30 years old and there is a new teaching block of 10 classrooms, which was opened by Tony Blair in 1999. This was following a successful bid for funding after Talbot's 'successful' Ofsted inspection. The school now has 'much larger than average' grounds with 'several' football pitches, netball courts, tennis courts and the school has its own 35-metre swimming pool, run as a separate business. This swimming pool is 'fully used' by the community and all pupils can swim each week. Talbot's tennis courts are hired out all summer and the school has installed 'state-of-the-art' computers for children in suites. Parents provide support to the school via the Parent-Teacher's Association who raise money for the school by arranging events such as a firework display and the June summer fair. Three charities are supported each year, two local and one national. The school is currently 'just' oversubscribed in five of the years.
