Background:
Corfe Hills School was founded in 1976 and moved into purpose built accommodation in 1977. It enjoys a pleasant site in the urban fringe between Poole and Wimborne, serving a catchment area which includes Broadstone, Corfe Mullen, Merley and Sturminster Marshall. The facilities are very good and have been significantly enhanced through Technology College status to include 10 ICT rooms, specialist rooms for Art, Drama, Music and Technology, 14 Science laboratories, a large sports hall and extensive playing fields. Most students study 10 GSCEs from a choice of 25 subjects. In the sixth form, there are 28 AS/A2 courses on offer, three AVCEs and one NVQ. Extra curricular activities are strong and include an annual musical production in Pooles Towngate Theatre, a wide range of sporting teams who regularly enjoy local and national success, the full range of music groups and a number of others including visits to visits to France, Germany, Russia and the Southern Hemisphere. The school enjoys good relationships with the local community and students raise around #15,000 each year for charity.
