Background:
The two-form entry school was founded in 1960 in the semi-rural market town of Bridport in west Dorset. It now occupies a brand new building opened in 1997. Facilities include a library, hall, music/drama studio and ICT suite. There are also extensive hard play areas and very large fields, which are currently being developed. Extra-curricular activities currently include dance, recorder, netball, art and craft, football, line dancing and computers. Pupils have the opportunity to take part in residential visits to the Kingcombe Centre in Year 4 and the Leeson House Field Study Centre in Year 6. The school maintains community links such as with residential homes, a special school and day centres. Children are involved with considerable fund-raising for charity each year. Bridport Primary School promotes high achievement and learning for life in order that pupils become caring individuals, sensitive to the needs of others and show respect for their environment as well as developing high self-esteem and being able to work independently and collaboratively.
